Greece's Tsipras Calls for Unity After 'Macedonia' Rift

Greece’s Prime Minister, Alexis Tsipras, addressed a meeting of his cabinet ministers on Tuesday in the Greek capital.
Among other things, Tsipras called all of his ministers, both from SYRIZA and Independent Greeks (ANEL) party, to pledge that they have neither considered nor would ever identify with the efforts of Greece’s right and extreme right to overthrow the government, using the name issue with the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia as a pretext.
He added that the real reason of a possible collapse of his government would be ”the wish to reverse the country’s exit from the crisis with the Greek society still standing.”
According to information from the inside of the cabinet meeting, the Greek foreign minister Nikos Kotzias accused Defense Minister Panos Kammenos of ”playing political games, by trying to implement a different foreign policy that is against the government and the country, for his own political good.”
Previous to that mention, the atmosphere was relaxed as Tsipras spoke of the economy by saying that ”it has now entered a post-program recovery phase,” and added that, for the first time, the Greek government has submitted a draft budget to the European Commission that confirms the country’s ”clean exit” from memorandum supervision.
He repeated his intention to not implement the pension cuts legislated to start in 2019, as the 3.5 percent primary surplus target can be met without the cuts. He also reiterated his willingness to implement the controlled fiscal expansion measures announced at the Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF) in September.
