Greece's Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias Resigns

Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias resigned on Wednesday, a day after a tense cabinet meeting during which he clashed with Defense Minister Panos Kammenos over the Prespa accord.
Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras thanked Kotzias for his services over the last three and a half years and announced that he himself will be acting as foreign minister “so as to contribute with all his powers to the successful completion” of the Prespa deal.
“The decision to accept the resignation of Kotzias and to take over the Foreign Minister is a decision with multiple messages, both inside and outside the country”, said Tsipras.
He warned that he “will not tolerate any double-speak from anyone, no personal strategy towards [the Prespa] agreement. I will not let anyone disturb the country’s smooth course after the exit from the crisis,” he said, adding:
“I want to encourage [the citizens of FYROM] to move forward with determination. There will be no other opportunity.”
During Tuesday’s cabinet meeting Kammenos also reportedly accused Kotzias of mismanaging secret foreign ministry funds and being a man of US billionaire financier George Sorros.
Kotzias was disgruntled over the fact that Tsipras failed to support him against attacks from Kammenos. In a rather poetic tweet, Kotzias does not hide his disappointment and speaks of forces that wanted to bury him:

The tweet roughly translates to: The moment comes to decide with whom you go and who you leave behind. The Prime Minster and a number of ministers made their choices yesterday and I made mine. It is good to remember, however, the verse: they wanted to bury me deep down, but they forgot that I am a seed.
Kammenos, who heads the governing coalition’s junior party, has long objected to the Prespa deal and threatened to leave the coalition if the agreement comes to parliament for ratification.
