Chinese Premier Li Keqiang made a positive statement on Friday regarding ongoing efforts between China and Greece to continue to grow relations between the two countries, calling Greece a reliable friend and partner of China.
He made the remarks as he met with Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras on the sidelines of the 12th Asia-Europe Meeting Summit in Brussels.
Li stressed the importance of China’s relationship with Greece and also commented that Greece is now entering a new chapter in socio-economic development with the bailout program that had concluded in August.
He further expressed that China is ready to join efforts with Greece to intensify high-level exchanges and strengthen their cooperation and comprehensive strategic partnership to a new level. He encouraged Chinese enterprises to invest in Greece, develop in Greece, and further develop the construction of the Belt and Road, resulting in a mutual benefit for the two countries.
Tsipras also had positive feedback on the developing relationship between Greece and China. Projects in Greece such as the port project in Piraeus is the main focus.
He also noted that Greece and China have the common interest to increase exchanges in economic investments and trade within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative to achieve common prosperity.
