Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan told journalists on Saturday that Turkey is ready to take any “necessary measures” to protect its rights in the Eastern Mediterranean if needed. Currently, the country has stationed a Turkish research vessel in close proximity to Greece’s continental shelf.

He also reportedly said that the “problems started” in the eastern Mediterranean sea because of Greece’s incorrect delineation of the country’s sea borders.
