Some of the grittiest parts of Athens can now be viewed from a refreshingly positive perspective. Recently, UpDrones explored what the Greek capital’s most notoriously dirty and dangerous squares look like from above, from the lens of a drone. Surprisingly, the view of these sections of Athens sharply contrast their street-level appearance.
The two districts that were explored, Omonia Square and Kanigos Square, are known as hot spots for drug traffickers, crime, and theft.
However, the drone footage shows that as the details of the everyday activities below blur out of focus, the shapes of the abandoned neo-classical buildings mixed with newer facades and the interlacing lines of the streets resemble a puzzle or an abstract masterpiece!
