New Strong Earthquake Hits Greece's Zakynthos

A new earthquake measuring between 5.5 and 5.7 on the Richter scale, the second one in less than 12 hours, jolted the Greek island of Zakynthos on Tuesday afternoon at 17:12 local time.
These tremors came less than a week after the area of the Ionian Sea was hit by an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.4.
The new tremor’s epicenter was 41 kilometers southwest of Zakynthos and 290 kilometers west of the Greek capital, according to the first estimate of Athens’ Geodynamic Institute and it was strongly felt across Greece and as far away as southern Italy.
Until now, there are no reported casualties or house collapses.
