A portion of the bridge in front of the old hospital of Kavala, in northern Greece, collapsed on Friday afternoon. There were no injuries but traffic was interrupted in the city.
The section that collapsed was approximately 15 meters in length, trapping a crane and a passenger car that happened to be passing at the moment the bridge caved in. The passengers of the two vehicles emerged safely.
The collapse of the bridge stopped all the traffic traveling toward the exit out of the city.
