Young Greeks from Mati Show Solidarity With California

“We Feel You California,” was the touching message of solidarity that young Greeks from Mati and Neos Voutzas sent out to the California wildfire victims.
Young people from East Attica who experienced the same living nightmare on July 23 of this year, when 99 people lost their lives, expressed their compassion to the Californians who have lived through the same ordeal in the past few days.
Along with the photos, the young Greeks also sent the following poem to the suffering people of California:
“I feel you California!
I have also felt what it’s like to see the places that have given you the most beautiful memories, erased.
I have also felt what it’s like to look around you and not understand where you are.
I have also felt what it is like to be wondering ‘why’? And now? And now, how can everything start from the beginning again?
I have also felt what it’s like to lose everything!
But be strong, California, because in all that you will feel now, disappointment, sadness, bitterness and anger, you will find a window that you didn’t know about … & this will keep you on your feet … you will see that you are not alone but there will be many of you and you will have each other to support and you will succeed … you will get up, California
And you will regain your Paradise! …
I feel you California!”
U.S. Ambassador to Greece Geoffrey Pyatt was very moved by the message and thanked the people of Mati for their heartwarming initiative in a Tweet:
