According to a new poll conducted by the Public Issue polling company and published on Thursday, the center-right New Democracy party leads the governing SYRIZA party by a margin of 16.5 percent.
New Democracy’s electoral approval reaches 38.5 percent while the ruling left-wing SYRIZA languishes at 22 percent.
The social-democratic Movement of Change (Kinima Allagis) came in at third place with 9.5 percent.
The findings of Public Issue’s poll show that 9.5 percent of the total vote would go to other, smaller parties.

The Communist Party of Greece (KKE) was fourth, at 7.5 percent approval, Neo-Nazi group of Golden Dawn (Chrysi Avgi) came in at fifth place with 7 percent.
The party of the Independent Greeks (ANEL), who currently co-govern with SYRIZA, garnered a 2 percent approval rating, with the same figure earned by two more parliamentary parties, To Potami and the Centrists’ Union.
According to the new poll, the New Democracy Party could easily form a government on its own, as the party could elect between 154 and 174 members in a Parliament of 300 members.
