Greeks in the UK Fully Protected, Says Greek Alternate Foreign Minister

Greece’s Alternate Foreign Minister, George Katrougalos, stated on Sunday that it was his “top priority to safeguard the rights of the Greek students and workers” currently residing in Britain. Answering questions concerning Brexit during an interview with state-run AMNA radio station, he also said it was one of the standout issues that was first resolved at the outset of negotiations.
Regarding Greek citizens’ rights after the UK leaves the EU, Katrougalos said that ”they will be fully guaranteed, and we will do whatever is possible for the rights of those Greeks… Nothing will change for those who are currently working or studying in the UK, their rights will continue to be the same.”

Following Sunday’s Brexit summit in Brussels which focused on the UK’s departure from the EU, Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras said on Twitter that the withdrawal agreement is a balanced one which marks a difficult but historic turn in the history of the EU.
