Greek Unemployment Drops to 18.6%

 

The unemployment rate in Greece, dropped to 18.6 percent in September 2018, coming down three-tenths of a percent from the rate of 18.9 the previous month.
The new, seasonally-adjusted rate represents a 2.2 percent decrease from the rate of 20.8 percent measured in September 2017, according to data released on Thursday by the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT).
The total number of all people working in Greece was 3,879,461 in September, 2018. The total number of unemployed people during the month was 887,009.
The total non-working population was 3,199,929, a number which includes pensioners and people out of work for various reasons.
According to ELSTAT, 88,025 people were added to the ranks of workers compared to September, 2017. More than eighteen thousand people were working in September, 2018 than were working during the previous month of August.
Those who were completely out of the job market, neither working nor looking for work, were 15,571 fewer in September 2018 compared to the same month last year.
