Cypriot Tourism Continues to Climb

Ninety-five percent of Cyprus visitors stayed on the free, southern side of the island

The majority of tourists who visited Cyprus between June and September of 2018 said that they were “satisfied to a great extent” with their stay, according to a survey commissioned by the Cyprus Tourism Organisation (CTO).
The survey of visitors took place at the island’s two international airports in the cities of Larnaca and Paphos.
Tourista said that they chose Cyprus as their holiday destination because of its sunny weather and beautiful seashores, as well as the island’s tranquility and the attractiveness of the environment.
They also praised Cypriot hospitality and the island’s cuisine and culture. Twenty-eight percent of tourists surveyed said they chose Cyprus because they had visited the island in the past or because friends and relatives had suggested it.
Eighty percent of travelers said that they would definitely suggest Cyprus as a good tourist destination to their friends, with the figure growing to 94 per cent among Britons, who have traditionally chosen Cyprus as one of their favorite tourist destinations.
Those who answered the survey said that they would return to Cyprus over the next three or four years, with 96 percent of the Russians who were polled saying they would definitely return.
According to the findings, 95 percent of the visitors stayed on the free side of the island, in the Greek-Cypriot Republic of Cyprus, with only 2.2 percent saying that they visited the Turkish-occupied northern part of the island.
Cyprus is among the most-visited islands in the Mediterranean during the summer months and every indication is that this trend will continue into the foreseeable future.
