Athens Airport Launches App for Chinese Visitors

Athens International Airport Eleftherios Venizelos (AIA) announced on Wednesday the launch of a new, groundbreaking service through which Chinese visitors will be given access to airport and other information.
The application through which the service will be offered is called “AIA – Toorbee WeChat Miniapp”.
It was developed jointly with the Chinese company Toorbee, which provides technological solutions for businesses, and WeChat, China’s main messaging, social media and mobile phone service provider, according to representatives from AIA representatives.
In a presentation on the application, they explained that all Chinese travelers need to do is scan  a Quick Response (QR) code into their phones that they will find at various points around the airport. They will then be instantly given access to airport information and the opportunity to find out what is happening in the city of Athens.
According to airport executives, the new application will turn Athens into the first “China-ready airport in Europe.”
