Greek Conservatives Maintain Commanding Lead in New Poll


Greek main opposition New Democracy Party (ND) has a 9.5 percent lead over governing SYRIZA in a new poll conducted by Greeceā€™s Pulse polling company on behalf of Skai TV.
In the poll, which was published on Thursday, the conservatives’ lead was expanded to 10.5 percentage points following a proportional distribution of the undecided vote to the parties.
According to the poll, ND received 31.5 percent of support among likely voters. SYRIZA followed with 22 percent.
The extreme right-wing Golden Dawn Party and centrist party Movement for Change are tied at third place with 6.5 percent, followed by the Communist Party (KKE) at 5.5 percent.
No other political party received support exceeding the 3 percent threshold to be represented in parliament.
Among likely voters, 11.5 percent of the respondents declared themselves still undecided.
Approximately half of those surveyed considered an economic crisis or economic problems in 2019 likely, while 63 percent believe the economy is moving in the wrong direction.
