A Panamanian-flagged freighter named ”Sibel” run aground on the sandy shoals off Peloponnesian town of Nafplio on Saturday.
The vessel had a total of 13 crew on board, all non-Greek nationals, and no injuries were reported. The vessel was loaded with fertilizer and was sailing toward the port of Volos in Thessaly.
According to Greek state-run news agency AMNA, the vessel is expected to be inspected by private divers on Sunday before an organized salvage operation takes place. They will then attempt to float the vessel and move it away from the port of Nafplio as soon as possible.
