A businessman who had been kidnapped on December 27 outside his home in the port city of Piraeus, near the Greek capital city of Athens, was released on Friday.
Nikos Mavrikios, 51, returned to his home after giving information to authorities who are investigating the case. According to reports, the businessman negotiated his own release with his abductors, and he phoned police on Friday morning from his home to inform them of his release.
Police said that his family were never contacted for ransom. No further details about the incident were available at press time.
