Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades met with the leadership of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) on Monday in Nicosia, Cyprus.
The President praised the increasingly warm and friendly relations between the states of Cyprus and Israel as he received the official delegation from A.I.P.A.C. at the Presidential Palace in the island’s capital.
Anastasiades expressed his satisfaction with the close working relationship between the two states, emphasizing the bright future of the tripartite cooperation between Cyprus, Israel and Greece.
A written statement issued by Cyprus governmental spokesman Prodromos Prodromou also notes that the increased cooperation between the three strategically-situated Mediterranean countries increases the strength of what the U.S. has termed a “pillar of stability” in the area.
According to the statement, President Anastasiades referred to the possibilities for an even further strengthening of the relations between Cyprus and Israel in many areas. He thanked A.I.P.A.C. and the Jewish diaspora for their helpful and positive role in upgrading the relationship between the three nations during the last few years.

The American-Israel Public Affairs Committee is a powerful lobbying group which advocates pro-Israel policies in the Congress of the United States of America.
