Magnitude 5.4 Earthquake Hits Off Rhodes


Α 5.4-magnitude earthquake shook the island of Rhodes, in Greece’s Dodecanese island archipelago, on Thursday afternoon.
A preliminary reading by the Athens Institute of Geodynamics showed the tremor occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers (6 miles), 59 kilometers (37 miles) south of the city of Rhodes.
The European Mediterranean Seismological Center measured the earthquake at 5.5 on the Richter scale.
No injuries or damages have been reported yet, but locals said that the tremor was very strong.
