A magnitude 5.2 on the Richter scale earthquake hit west Preveza in western Greece at 04:26 local time (02:26 GMT) on Tuesday.
The epicenter was 14 kilometers (8.5 miles) northwest of Preveza in the Ionian sea, 294 kilometers (183 miles) northwest of Athens, and the focal depth was 10 kilometers (6 miles).
The jolt was felt as far away as Corfu and Patra.
Electricity supply has been interrupted in some parts of Preveza, but until now there have no reports of injuries or damage.
The local authorities of the city have been checking the broader region since the early hours of Tuesday, with no major damages being reported yet.
Speaking with Greek media, experts noted that the region of Western Greece is used to earthquakes like this.
The scientists will now watch the phenomenon closely.
