Old House Collapses in Athens' Neighborhood of Kerameikos

An old house collapsed on Sunday morning in Athens’ central neighborhood of Kerameikos.
The house, that was old and abandoned, collapsed in the early hours on Sunday, causing a very loud noise that scared many people of the neighborhood.
Residents of Artemisiou street called the police and the fire brigade to check if anyone was trapped under the tons of debris.
Following the investigation conducted by the authorities, no one was found.
From the images Greece’s OPEN TV broadcasted, at least two cars have been damaged by the old building’s collapse, as they were parked right under the house.
Kerameikos also was known as Ceramicus, is an area of Athens northwest of the Acropolis. It was the potters’ quarter of Ancient Athens, from which the English word “ceramics” is derived.
