Strong winds that have swept across Greece since Thursday knocked down a monument in the town of Eratini in Central Greece’s Fokida region on Friday.
A CCTV video captured the moment when the strong winds lifted a huge piece of wood which then knocked a marble monument down.
The monument was placed in the town’s promenade right next to the sea.
Intense rainfall and storms have caused many disruptions across the country over the last two days.
In Crete’s Chania region many roads have been shut due to landslides. Residents of the city of Chania had been warned to avoid the waterfront, as huge waves were slamming into the sea walls of the old Venetian harbor.
The rainfall and strong winds are expected to continue on Saturday and Sunday too, on the central to the eastern and southern mainland of the country, with possible light snowfall at higher elevations.
