Greek Students Win Gold in Auto Engineering World Competition (video)

Greek students from Philothei High School in Athens won the global technology competition “Land Rover 4×4 in Schools” which took place in the English city of Coventry on Monday.
The Land Rover 4×4 in Schools Technology Challenge is an enhancement and enrichment initiative which gives young people an insight into what it takes to become an engineer. The project hopes to raise awareness of, and interest in, science, technology, engineering and math through practical, hands-on experience.
The Greek team called “NewGen Motors” triumphed over all the other competitors as they worked together to design and build a radio-controlled four-wheel drive (4×4) vehicle, to set specifications.
The vehicle was tasked with successfully negotiating a specially-designed test track emulating real life, and it should perform as a full scale 4×4 vehicle would do in an off-road situation.
A team from Malaysia came in second after the Philothei High School squad, and a Portuguese team won third place in the global competition.
Teams entering the challenge spent a number of weeks designing, researching, building and project-managing their 4×4 vehicle to enter it into regional heats in competition with other schools from their area.

Congratulations to all the world finalist teams. The skills these students have shown are unparalleled and we bet it won't be long before they become future innovators. Watch out world the #LR4x4WF19 competitors are coming for you! #DrivingInnovation #VideoMontage
