Dead Infant Found in Garbage Bin Shocks Greek Nation

The discovery on Thursday of a dead infant in a garbage bin in the town of Aigio, in the Peloponnese, has sent shock waves around Greece.
The baby’s 30-year-old mother is being questioned by police at the nearby Gynecology Clinic of the University Hospital.
The woman arrived earlier to the clinic with heavy bleeding, complaining of complications in giving birth. Doctors alerted the police, as the whereabouts of the newborn were unknown.
Later, an anonymous call led police officers to a garbage bin just outside the town where the infant’s body was discovered. It is not yet clear whether the baby was dead before it was dumped there.
Police are continuing their investigations, and a coroner is expected to announce the cause of the newborn’s death soon.
