Greece’s Unions of wine-makers plan to open the doors of their vineyards to the public during the weekend of May 18-19.
Under the ”Open Doors” initiative, scores of vineyards across the country will welcome travelers, tourists and oenophiles who will have the chance to view the stages of production, enjoy local wines and speak to vineyard owners and employees.
Travelers can even follow one of Greece’s many ”wine roads,” in Macedonia or the Peloponnesian peninsula, for example, and visit several different vineyards to get a broader picture of the country’s wine production.
The organizers of the national event have made sure that entrance to all of participating vineyards will be free, and many events and contests are awaiting the lucky visitors.
