Greek tennis phenomenon Stefanos Tsitsipas has climbed two positions in tennis’ ATP rankings and is now seeded seventh in the world following his stellar performance on Sunday in Madrid.
This is the highest position ever reached by the Greek tennis player in his career thus far.
Tsitsipas had stunned the tennis world on Saturday night in Madrid when he won his match against Rafael Nadal, the second-ranked player in the world. The victory granted him the opportunity to reach the Mutua Madrid Open Final for the first time ever.
However, despite his determination and his spirited play, Tsitsipas wasn’t able to bring down Serbian champion Novak Djokovic, who is currently ranked number one in the world, and he lost, two sets to love, with a score of 6-3 and 6-4.
