A fresh incident of vandalism of a public place occurred in Athens on Wednesday afternoon.
This time, a group of approximately ten individuals, who were wearing hoodies to cover their heads, stormed the office of the rector of ASOEE, the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB).

They threw flyers around offices and vandalized the walls with slogans painted in black.
The unknown vandals wrote one slogan saying ”The Rector along with the Police made an agreement to receive bigger grants from the State.”
The hooligans were apparently protesting the police presence at the University, which came upon the request of the rector to stop incidents of trading counterfeit goods which was taking place inside the boundaries of AUEB, outside its main buildings.
Following the attack, the office of the rector issued a press release, noting that ”the Greek state must safeguard the democratic and orderly operation of the country’s public universities,” adding that these actions are unlawful and undemocratic and have no place in a university.
Disturbingly, similar incidents have become routine in public life in Athens over the last several days. This most recent incident only adds another episode atop the huge number of vandalism-related incidents which hurt the Greek capital’s image and cause damage wherever they take place.
