Giannis Moralis Wins First Round in Piraeus' Municipal Election


The candidate from the center-left KINAL and To Potami parties, and current Mayor of Piraeus Giannis Moralis, won the first round of voting for the mayoral office of Attica’s port city in the Sunday elections.
With more than half of the votes counted, Moralis and his ”Piraeus Winner” team received 45.34 percent of the vote, and will compete next Sunday against New Democracy-backed Nikos Vlachakos, who came in second, receiving 26.65 percent of the vote.
SYRIZA Party-backed Nikos Belavilas came in third, with 14.48 percent.
The second round of the election will be held on Sunday, June 2.
