A tragic incident took place in Athens on Saturday morning, when a man, whose age is still unknown, was found dead on the railway lines of a metro station.
The incident took place at the Agios Antonios (Saint Anthony) metro station in Peristeri, west Athens around six o’clock in the morning, local time.
The trains of the metro system have stopped their operations in the area.
Three vehicles belonging to the local fire brigade, along with nine men, rushed to the station to help the man after passengers nearby witnessed the incident.
The unfortunate man was declared dead at the scene.
The authorities are expected to conduct an investigation into the reasons behind this tragic occurrence, as it is still unclear whether it was an accident or a suicide.
