First Summer Heatwave Set to Strike Greece

Sweltering temperatures are expected to prevail throughout Greece in the coming days, reaching 37 to 38 degrees Celsius (100 degrees Fahrenheit), the Meteo service of the National Observatory of Athens said on Thursday.
The anticyclonic conditions which will prevail in the atmosphere over Greece will result in strong, unfiltered sun, and fewer rainstorms observed over the nation of Greece in the next few days, Meteo says in its prediction.
The highest temperatures are expected to occur in the plain of Thessaly, the plain of Giannitsa and Agrinio.
In Athens, the temperature is expected to reach 36C (96 Fahrenheit) and in Thessaloniki it is expected to hit 34C (93 Fahrenheit).
