Large Fire in Southern Evia "Under Control" (video)

The flames are seen approaching the sea near Karystos on Wednesday evening

Firefighters say that a large fire that broke out near the town of Karystos in southern Evia on Wednesday evening is now “under control”.
According to local media, the fire started shortly after 11 PM, burning brushland and spreading quickly due to the locally strong winds.
Homes near the area were evacuated as a precaution, and a total of 22 firemen with seven vehicles battled the flames overnight.
The Civil Protection Secretariat of Greece issued a fire prevention map on Thursday naming the four regions where there is a high risk of fire during the daytime.
The regions are Attica, Central Greece (Viotia and Evia), the Peloponnese (Argolida and Corinthia) and the North Aegean (Chios).
