Capital Link Recognizes the Work of The Hellenic Initiative

The International 2019 Capital Link CSR Leadership Award was given to The Hellenic Initiative (THI) as a recognition of its work and its significant contribution to the development of the Greek economy and its support to crisis-stricken Greek society.
The 9th Annual Capital Link CSR Forum “Investments, Extroversion & Social Responsibility. Pillars for Sustainable Development” took place in Athens at the Hilton Hotel under the auspices of the Municipality of the City of Athens.
Mr. Jeremy Downward, a member of the THI Board of Directors and Executive Director of Aristeus Financial Services Ltd, received the award on behalf of THI.
Upon receiving the award, Mr. Downward noted that, ‘This Capital Link Award is an honor to me, especially when I think of the honored persons who preceded me. Our motto when we started was: ”If not now, when? If not us, then who?” Through our international presence, we brought together the Greek diaspora and the Philhellenes like me like never before. We are active both through direct charitable activities and by supporting economic growth through job openings and support for start-ups. Finally, I would like to thank our local partners in Greece and Cyprus for their efforts in the face of adversity.”
Mr. Peter Poulos, THI Executive Director, said that, “On behalf of the board of directors and all of us at THI, I thank you all, especially Nikos and Olga Bornozis, who are on our side since the first day of this effort. It all started at a meeting with President Clinton and prominent members of the Greek diaspora who wanted to help the country during the economic crisis. Today, we have invested 15 million euros in the country.”
The Hellenic Initiative was founded in 2012 by diaspora Greeks and philhellene communities with the aim to help Greece get out of the economic crisis and help shape the country’s long-term recovery.
