Family of Murdered American Scientist Donates Funds to Cretan Volunteers

The family of American scientist Dr. Suzanne Eaton, who was murdered in Crete earlier this month, announced on Wednesday that they will be donating funds to volunteer organizations which were involved in the search for her.
The family is also asking donors if a sum of the money can be used for the body of Dr. Eaton return to Germany and for a memorial service.
The full letter from Eaton’s family is as follows:

Meanwhile, the Holy Eparchial Synod of the Archdiocese of Crete expressed sympathy and condolences on behalf of the Church of Crete to Dr. Eaton’s family.
The Church of Crete declared its “uncompromising support to the relatives and colleagues of the late Suzanne, a scientist of recognized and international prestige, who made great contributions to research and science, and who also felt a particular love for Crete,” in an official announcement.
The Church also praised police authorities on Crete for their work in promptly solving the case. The message underscored the need for “absolute respect for the sanctity of the person and the value of human life,” and emphasized “the urgent duty of every person to assist in every way in the establishment of peaceful coexistence and a true community of all people, based on mutual respect and dignity.”
It should be noted that Eaton’s confessed killer, Yiannis Paraskakis, is the son of an Orthodox priest in the Church of Crete.
