Reports Suggest Turkish Drillship ''Yavuz'' Has Begun Operations Off Cyprus

According to reports published on Tuesday by Turkey’s Daily Sabah newspaper and many Cypriot media outlets, the Turkish drillship ”Yavuz” has begun operations off the coast of Cyprus’ peninsula of Karpasia in the eastern Mediterranean Sea.
The reports also suggest that the Turkish drillship will stay in that same region of the sea east of Cyprus for at least three weeks.
It is noted that another Turkish drillship, the”Fatih,” has already been conducting illegal exploration and drilling activities west of Cyprus, off the coast of Paphos.
This is the latest incident in a series of violations that Turkey has already incurred either inside or very close to the Exclusive Economic Zone of the Republic of Cyprus.
