Greek Director Yorgos Lanthimos Returns With New Movie

Following the ten Academy Awards nominations (and one win) for his movie “The Favourite”, Greek Director Yorgos Lanthimos is returning to cinemas with a short film called “Nimic”.
The new, twelve-minute-long film is a thriller, which Lanthimos co-wrote with Greek screenwriter Efthymis Filippou.
The film made its official premiere on August 9th at the 72nd Locarno International Film Festival, with the Greek director saying: “I was glad to be given the opportunity to work on a shorter format that can be sometimes challenging but quite rewarding.”
“We developed a script starting from a very intriguing initial idea and concept, and enjoyed great creative freedom during the realization of the film. It is always very exciting to be invited to think outside the box and wrestle with stimulating ideas,” Lanthimos added.
The cast includes Matt Dillon, Daphné Patakia, Susan Elle, Sara Lee, Eugena Lee, Rowan Kay, Anvo Kyle, Lizzy Ceniceros, Florencia Mariotti, and Jeffrey Raines.
The short film follows a professional cellist who has an encounter with a stranger on the subway which ends up having unexpected and far-reaching ramifications on his life.
