Greece Progresses to Round of 16 at FIBA Basketball World Cup

The national basketball team of Greece beat New Zealand 103-97 on Friday afternoon, thereby securing its place in the next round of the FIBA Basketball World Cup which is taking place in nine different cities across China.
In a game held at China’s Nanjing Gymnasium of Youth Olympic Games Sport Park, The Greeks, led by Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo, “The Greek Freak,” managed to secure their place in the next round of the World Cup tournament.


The NBA MVP scored 24 points and had 10 rebounds in thirty minutes of action, while his brother, Thanasis, played for 19 minutes and scored ten points.
Ioannis Papapetrou scored 16 points in 23 minutes, Nick Calathes went up for 14 points and four rebounds in 27 minutes, and Georgios Printezis had 13 points of his own while playing less than 23 minutes.
The team of New Zealand conducted a total of 32 fouls, while the Greeks had 24.
