Greece Lose to Finland; Wave Goodbye to Euro 2020

The Greek National team suffered another miserable night losing 1-0 to Finland in Tampere – a result which leaves Greece all but out of the Euro 2020 finals.
New coach John van’t Schip made several changes to the team that Angelos Anastasiadis had fielded last June against Italy and Armenia, but the net result was the same.
Greece enjoyed lots of possession but lacked the quality to break the Finnish defense.
Teemu Pukki’s solitary penalty early in the second half proved the difference between the two teams as the hosts claimed all three points.
Greece is now left with four points from five games and has only a mathematical chance to progress to the Euro 2020 finals.
Italy lead group Group J by three points after coming from behind to beat Armenia 3-1. Finland are second with 12 points, five clear of third-placed Bosnia-Herzegovina who thrashed Liechtenstein 5-0.
The top two teams in each group qualify automatically for next summer’s finals.
