Greece's Michalentzakis Wins Gold in World Para Swimming Championships

Greece’s Paralympic swimmer Demosthenes (Dimos) Michalentzakis won the gold medal in the ”S8” freestyle final on Monday evening during London’s World Para Swimming Championships 2019.
The 20-year old Greek Paralympic champion from Alexandroupolis managed to finish first with 57.69 seconds, leaving his Australian rival Ben Popham in his wake. The Australian swimmer finished with a time of 57.89 seconds.
Greek PM Kyriakos Mitsotakis sent out a Tweet to congratulate Michalentzakis on his great victory at the 2019 championships.


”Congratulations to Demosthenes Michalentzakis! Rio’s Paralympic gold medalist managed to climb again to the top of the podium, this time at the World Swimming Championships. It made us very proud once again!” The Greek Premier declared.
Michalentzakis won the gold medal in the 100m butterfly during the Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 2016.
