According to the latest Times Higher Education World University Rankings, which was published on Wednesday, the University of Crete takes first place among all of Greece’s higher education institutions for the academic year 2019-2020.
This specific ranking uses a total of thirteen separate indicators, which are grouped under five categories, in order to determine the relative position for each university.
According to the publishers of the list, these categories consist of teaching, research, citations, international mix and industry income.
The University of Crete managed to rank first in the entire nation, leaving the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens behind in second place.
Third place was taken by a total of four Greek universities: The Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, the University of Ioannina, the National Technical University of Athens and the University of Thessaly.
The University of Crete was the only Greek university to be ranked between the 351 and 400 best universities in the entire world, according to the new study.
