One Dead After Fire Breaks Out in Krestena, West Peloponnese

A man died near the town of Krestena in Western Peloponnese in Greece on Friday afternoon, after a large fire broke out in the area.
The unfortunate 57-year-old man from the village of Kalithea, near Krestena, was attempting to help firefighters and his neighbors to save their homes after the fire reached their neighborhood.

According to media reports, the man lost consciousness after inhaling the thick smoke that permeated the area.
He was later found dead near his home.
An autopsy is expected to take place in the coming days to determine the exact causes of his death.
In the meantime, more than 60 firefighters are still trying to extinguish the fire, which is continuing to burn in the woods around the Krestena area.
