Anarchists Attack Police Station with Firebombs in Athens

A group of about 30 anarchists launched an attack with Molotov cocktails against the  Zografou police station in Athens at around 2:40 am on Saturday.
According to the Hellenic Police, the perpetrators came out of the nearby university campus and hurled about 20 firebombs at the station, without causing any injuries or damage.
The station guard responded by throwing a noise grenade at the anarchists, while police forces rushed to the spot, apprehending two suspects. The two men were released later as there was no evidence of their participation in the attack.
According to police, the attack was likely in retaliation to the recent police operations in Exarchia, a neighborhood where anarchist groups occupy several buildings.
The attack came only hours before a planned protest rally in downtown Athens by anarchist and leftist groups, to demonstrate against police intervention in Exarchia.
