Wildfire Enters Village on Zakynthos, Residents Flee in Panic (video)

A wildfire raging on Zakynthos island is out of control, despite the efforts of the fire service; the blaze has entered the village of Keri, forcing residents to flee in panic.
According to Zantetimes.gr, firefighters made heroic efforts to contain the fire, which is  uncontrollable because of the strong north winds. The first homes were evacuated when the flames were only a few meters away.
The fire started in the Agalas area and it suddenly split and continued its course rapidly. A hotel in Keri was evacuated, with its 120 customers transported away by bus. Another hotel in Kalamaki was evacuated as well.
The fire, which is still in progress, arrived at Keri shortly after 14:30, finding residents unable to safely evacuate and instead having to flee in panic.
Shortly afterwards, a firefighting aircraft poured water on the village.
The fire in Agalas is still raging, burning a forest area, but so far, has not moved toward other residential areas.
