Greek Hotel on Rhodes Sponsors British Couple's Wedding After Thomas Cook Collapse

A hotel on the Greek island of Rhodes and the manager of the local Thomas Cook office turned the recent devastating news of the travel giant’s collapse to a fairytale for a British couple this week.
Thomas Cook, a 29-year old Briton who bears the same name as the company that went into bankruptcy administration on Monday morning, had planned his wedding to take place on the beautiful Greek island on Friday, September 27.
The couple was already on Rhodes when Thomas Cook declared bankruptcy, but more than thirty friends, relatives, and the couple’s best man were stranded in England, as all Thomas Cook flights had been cancelled immediately upon the company’s announcement.
The unfortunate couple believed that they had no other option but to cancel their wedding — thereby losing more than £10,000 they had already paid to celebrate the most important day of their lives.
Despondent, they felt that their only choice was to get onto one of the planes the British government sent to Rhodes to repatriate UK residents who were stranded there.
However, at the last moment, the Lindos Princess Hotel and the manager of the Rhodes office of the Thomas Cook company intervened, making a joint announcement to the relieved couple that they could stay on Rhodes and go ahead with their wedding plans for this Friday after all.
The hotel would ensure that all the guests who had been suddenly stranded in England, unable to go to Rhodes, would be transported to the Greek island on time so they could attend the wedding of their relatives and friends.
Having come so close to being swept away by the backdraft of Thomas Cook’s financial breakdown, and despite the psychological adventure the couple lived through, they will now be able to have the wedding of their dreams, at the island of their choice, this Friday.
