Euro 2020: Spirited Greece Lose 2-0 to Italy (video)

A spirited, but limited Greek side lost to Italy 2-0 at Rome’s Stadio Olimpico on Saturday for the Euro 2020 qualifiers.
The defeat has left Greece second from bottom in Group J, just above Lichtenstein, with just five points in seven games.
Italy were far from at their fluent best at Stadio Olimpico, appearing devoid of craft against an often-packed Greece defence, but a pair of second-half goals by Jorginho and Federico Bernardeschi ensured they did enough to make sure of a top-two finish in Group J.
Greece might have taken the lead in the 12th minute, though, when Dimitris Limnios found space on the right hand side of the box and was denied by a strong hand from Gianluigi Donnarumma. Greece had just 28 per cent possession in the first half but that was the only shot on target.
A combination of Italy’s determination and a defensive blunder from Andreas Bouchalakis in the second period allowed Jorginho to convert a penalty and substitute Bernardeschi wrapped the win up late on.
Italy return to action on Tuesday away to Liechtenstein, while Greece host Bosnia-Herzegovina on the same day.
