Greek Minister of Defense Nikos Panagiotopoulos met with his Turkish counterpart Hulusi Akar in Brussels on Friday.
The meeting took place concurrent with the NATO Defense Ministers summit which is currently being held in Belgium’s capital city.
This was the first time that the new Greek Minister of Defense had met his Turkish counterpart in person.
According to media reports, the two men discussed the situation in northern Syria and Panagiotopoulos raised the issue of Turkey’s violations in the Aegean Sea.
Akar expressed Turkey’s will to continue the ”Confidence Building Measures” between Ankara and Athens.
The Greek Minister agreed and said that another meeting will be held in December, at a technical level.
Panagiotopoulos noted that a good climate between the two countries is important for these meetings to be productive.
