Greece’s Panos Triantafyllou Wins Gold at Wheelchair Fencing World Cup

Greece’s Panos Triantafyllou claimed gold on the final day of individual competition at the International Wheelchair and Amputee Sports Federation’s (IWAS) Wheelchair Fencing World Cup in Amsterdam on Saturday.
Triantafyllou, who was paralyzed after a car accident north of Athens in 2004, won silver at Rio’s Paralympic Games.
The Greek athlete is one step closer to securing a spot that leads to the Tokyo Paralympic Games.
In a recent interview he revealed that he started doing sport activities three months after the horrific accident and despite doctors’ recommendations.
“I used to play football and volleyball. But eventually I got stuck with fencing,” he said. A decision that made him a protagonist in world wheelchair fencing.
