Three Turkish Nationals Suspected of Migrant Trafficking Arrested in Greece

The Greek Coast Guard arrested three Turkish nationals, aged 69, 42 and 37, on Monday after searching a yacht while it was under sail in the sea region of Othoni, northwest of Corfu.
The Turkish nationals are accused of illegally transporting migrants and refugees from Turkey to Italy aboard the the United States-flagged yacht “Angelo Bian.”
The vessel was taken to the port of Corfu with the assistance of two Coast Guard patrol boats where, following a thorough investigation, it was found that those arrested and their vessel were involved in migrant trafficking.
A European arrest warrant is now pending against the group of Turks for the illegal transport of a total of 43 third-country nationals to Lecce, Italy.
The sailboat was confiscated and Corfu port authorities currently have possession of the yacht.
