Greek swimmer Andreas Vazaios won the gold medal on Friday night in the 200-meter Independent Medley at the 25th European Swimming Championship in Glasgow, Scotland.
The Greek athlete achieved the perfect performance, breaking the European record.
Vazeos finished in 1:50.85, breaking the European record of 1:51.36 held since 2015 by Hungarian Olympic champion Laszlo Cseh.
The 25-year old Greek athlete broke the Greek national record twice.
He did this for the first time during the preliminary heat, where he finished at 1:52.38 and then again during his final race, where he broke the European and the Greek record.
Vazaios’ last major achievement was the gold medal in 2016 at London’s European Championships.
