Greek Police Destroy Makeshift Nail Bomb in Athens (video)

Bomb disposal officers on Monday used a controlled explosion to destroy a makeshift explosive device that was found outside a police station in the Zografou district, eastern Athens.

The device which included a nails, timer, cables and a bottle of explosives, had been placed inside a box on a wall opposite the station. It was spotted by a police officer.

Police say that the presence of nails in the device was designed to cause maximum casualties. It is not known why the device did not explode.

Counter-terrorism officers are conducting inquiries and they have sent the device to a police laboratory for further examination.
