The number of visitors to Greek museums recorded an increase of 2.5 percent and there was a 12.3 percent rise in visits to the country’s many archaeological sites in September of 2019 compared to the same period in 2018.
These very encouraging figures were made public on Wednesday by the Hellenic (Greek) Statistical Authority (ELSTAT).
In the month of September, 2019, the number of visitors to museums increased by 2.5 percent, while the number of free admission visitors rose by 2.2 percent.
At the same time, an extremely impressive increase of 28 percent was recorded in revenues at these sites.
According to ELSTAT’s report, there was a 5% increase in the number of visitors in the first nine months of 2019, coupled with a 9.2 percent drop in free admissions and an increase of an impressive 29.1 percent in revenues.
Regarding the country’s numerous archaeological sites, there was a 12.3 percent increase in visitors during the month of September, and revenues rose by 10.2 percent in comparison with September of the previous year.
As for the period between January and September 2019, visitors to archaeological sites in Greece increased by 5.6 percent, while the number of free admissions dropped by 11.1 percent and revenues showed a 9.7-percent hike.
