Coronavirus: Greece Closes Schools, Theaters, Cinemas in Achaea, Zante and Elis

Greek authorities announced on Wednesday evening that emergency preventative measures will be taken in three counties in the West of the country amid Covid19 coronavirus fears.

More specifically, the regional units of Achaea, Zakynthos (Zante) and Elis (Ilia) will be closing all schools, sports centers, cinemas, theaters and other public gathering places for 48 hours, beginning on Thursday.

The announcement was made by Sotiris Tsiodras, the spokesperson of the Health Ministry for the Covid19 coronavirus outbreak.

The emergency measures are linked to the ninth case of the viral disease which was recorded in Greece. The victim is currently hospitalized in serious condition in Patras.

The man had traveled to Israel before being diagnosed, and all the 54 travelers who were with him on the trip come from these three regions of Greece.
